Love is patient they say, and that is one virtue Oprah Winfrey and her boyfriend of 30 years, Stedman Graham seemed to have grasped.
But it looks like that their patience has paid off as news circulating the media is that the 61-year old media mogul is set to marry Stedman Graham in a private ceremony in Maui.
The couple has been dating since 1986 and got engaged in 1992 but plans for the wedding never came to life. However, Hollywood Life reports that Oprah said the big ‘yes’ to Stedman when he jokingly proposed one morning. According to a source close to the couple, “Oprah was making breakfast for Stedman when he casually made a joke about getting married, and it suddenly dawned on her how Stedman has never asked her for anything or pressured her in any way, and how she’s been able to do whatever she wants.”
“That’s when Oprah connected the dots and realised it was her turn to show how much she cares about what he wants. I heard she said yes, and Stedman couldn’t believe it. He thought she was joking with him!” the source added.
It promises to be a lavish ceremony as Oprah and Stedman have their own plans for how they want their dream wedding to be. Plans are still being kept secret but the wedding is said to happen at Oprah’s private estate in Maui, and she also plans to fly out her friends to ceremony herself.
Oprah’s best friend Gayle King is said to be her maid of honour and will also walk her down, which comes as no surprise as the two have been like sisters for decades.
