Navy Impounds 600,000 litres of illegally refined diesel.

According to Punch Newspapers the Central Naval Command, Yenagoa, on Saturday said it seized a vessel laden with 600,000 litres of suspected illegally refined automotive gas oil also known as diesel.

A statement issued by Lt. Cdr Edward Yeibo on behalf of the command’s Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) said that two of the four suspected oil thieves were arrested while loading the barge with diesel.

He further reiterated the Navy’s Zero Tolerance to crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism, illegal oil bunkering and other sundry crimes in the Niger Delta Region.

According to him, the operation, which led to the arrest of the suspects, was in line with the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas’s strategic directive to the Navy.

He quoted the Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship SOROH Commodore Habib Usman, as saying that a barge and five wooden boats laden with about 600,000 metric tonnes suspected to be illegally refined Automated Gas Oil and 2 suspects were arrested.

Usman said the suspects were arrested by the Nigerian Navy Ship SOROH around Beama community in Nembe Local Government Area in the waterways within Bayelsa.

The wooden boats were suspected to be used to convey the illegally refined Automated Gas Oil from the refining points to the barge for loading.

“As of the time of the arrest one of the boats had finished trans-loading its product into the barge.

“Consequently, the personnel of Forward Operating Base FORMOSO with gunboats and tug boat towed the barge to its jetty for further investigation.

“However, the wooden boats were destroyed, the two suspects are in custody for preliminary investigation and prosecution,” Yeibo was quoted in the statement.

He added that the FOC, CNC Rear Admiral Mohammed Garba had assured that the Navy will make the sea lane of communication accessible for all legitimate users and frustrate maritime criminalites in its Area of Responsibility.

According to him, there is no hiding place for crude oil thieves as the Navy will continue to sustain patrols in the maritime environment.

John Dumelo: I am taking my time not to rush into marriage.

According to SG,Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo has said that he does not intend to rush into marriage just yet.Speaking with reporters in Lagos, the Ghollywood hunk said he has come to the conclusion that most marriages are failing because people go into it with a wrong mindset.

He said, “I have seen a lot of people talking about marriage, a lot of people getting into marriage early, and divorcing early.I think people just love the idea of marriage but don’t know how to stay in marriage.”

“They like the idea of love but don’t have the idea of how to stay in love or be in love, so since I have some followers, I decided to put it in writing and advice people not to rush into marriage because your friends or cousins are getting married or because you want to have beautiful wedding pictures. Marriage is making it work and that is what is failing a lot of marriages these days because people go into it with the wrong mindset.

“These reasons are why I am taking my time before getting married and of course, there are plans of getting married soon.”

When asked if he sees himself one day tying the knot with his colleague and close friend, Yvonne Nelson, Dumelo simply said he could not.“Yvonne Nelson is just my friend, I mean we have enjoyed a beautiful friendship over a long period of time and we had some misunderstanding but I just thought about it and wondered, hey life is short, let’s bury the hatchet and move on as good friends that we have always been.”

However, the 32-year-old didn’t completely cast aside the idea of settling down with a Nigerian. He opined that if the opportunity presents itself, he would gladly oblige.

Singer Mary J. Blige files for divorce from husband Kendu Isaac.

 After 12 years of marriage, singer Mary J. Blige has filed for divorce from her husband and manager, producer Martin “Kendu” Isaacs reports TMZ.
Blige has claimed irreconcilable differences and plans to move forward with a legal split from Kendu. Blige has also asked a judge to block Isaacs from requesting or obtaining spousal support after the divorce.
The couple do not have any children together.  Blige and Isaacs were married on December 7, 2003 in a private ceremony.

John Mikel Obi has denied media reports making the rounds in Nigeria that he gave 30,000 dollars to his team –mates in the U23 team presently camping in Atlanta, USA.

Speaking from the team’s camp at the Hyatt Place, the Captain of Team Nigeria to the Rio Olympics was furious:

“I was first told of this unfortunate story by a friend who called me from Nigeria. I thought he was joking until he sent me the link. I don’t know the source of this story which to me is all out to divide us as a team. I would have thought that stories that should be coming out in the media are stories that will unite the team instead of dividing us. Our target in Rio is to excel, but if they continue like this, then I wonder how we can be united.”
