SCHOOLING AND EDUCATION: A JUXTAPOSITION.

I have always argued that SCHOOLING is different from EDUCATION, to know the reason why, we will have to look at the history of schooling. Schooling started in the late 17th century in the western world to meet the demands of the industrial era who needed blue and white collar workers to work in their industries. But times have changed, we are now in the 21st century, information age where INNOVATION is key and its impossible to have innovative ideas if you are not creative. There was no need for creativity during the industrial era because everything a worker did was a ROUTINE and so the school was set up to train people to follow routine. And so people like me who like to THINK OUT OF THE BOX are always punished in class for not wanting to follow routines. Lol. When I was in secondary school I was always day dreaming because what they were teaching me wasn't meeting my needs. I am not a ROUTINE person, I'm not a machine without a mind. Schooling is not for HUMANS, its for MACHINE. What I am trying to say is that we are running a schooling system that has no impact on our kids. They have minds, they want to create, they want to innovate, they want to make their environment better, they want to fall in love, they want to be rich and ball, they want to relate with friends from around the world and UNTIL OUR SCHOOLS FIND A WAY OF MEETING THESE NEEDS WITH EFFECTIVE CURRICULUM AND EDUCATIONAL POLICIES we will be wasting the years of our kids in school. I believe that the only time we got education right was at the NURSERY SCHOOL LEVEL; because kids are free to be themselves and create, play and be happy and not try to be machines. Interestingly these industries now have COMPUTERS THAT CAN DO WHAT SCHOOLED KIDS ARE TRAINED TO DO. For example, instead of having a kid who can define difficult terms offhand, you will just Google the term. The essence of education is to help a person EARN A LIVING and MAKE A LIVING. And so let's redefine our schooling system by FOCUSING our attention
in training the HEADS,HEARTS and HANDS of kids. The TEACHER -CENTERED classes is ancient, it was only good for the industrial era, we should adopt the STUDENT-CENTERED classes because what is the essence of teaching if the students are not learning. There are too many graduates on the street today who have spent 20-25 years of their lives to know and do what can easily be done by computers. Let's help our kids be creative and innovative, that is what is required in the 21st century.

Little Cooperation, Reluctant Fellowship... The “Virus” in the Rwandan Entertainment Industry.

Day to day, artists hearts have grown filled with hatred towards their counterparts due to the little to no cooperation and fellowship that are so lacking in the industry.
When you get to talk to Rwandan artists about their fellowship and situation, most of them will tell you that there is not a strong, if not any, cooperation between them.
As we gather from music fans, musicians and actors, they all say that the entertainment industry in Rwanda has grown tremendously, but the little cooperation and fellowship reigning among them may destroy all the work that’s done.

MC Claude, during his talk with Inyarwanda.com, said, “I am happy with where the industry is right now, but not so in regards to the fellowship among Rwandan artists.”
Illustrating this news are some few examples that were in the media. Recently, Lil G was in the news for having stolen $200 a Rwandan artist based in the US called Trey Max, who reported that the money was for a song project. However, the song was never made, and the latter did not get his money returned.
Now, when you talk with rising artists, they tell you that experienced artists ask for a great sum of money for just collaborating. Concerts are even worse because of the organization, especially when you are only emerging.
Habineza Jean Paul reportedly said that Senderi Hit betrayed him, and that the wound that he left  is now and forever a scar in his heart.
Jean Paul asked the Huye District leaders to help him out releasing a song he was supposed to work on with Senderi. The latter conditioned the former to vote him in the PGGSS5. Moreover, Senderi askedJean Paul, who lived two hours outside Kigali, to always come to Kigali and call him repeatedly; the phone and transport expenses were phenomenal.
Besides the music industry, movie actors sometimes invite other artists to their movie premiere, and they [artists] won’t show up without any apparent reason.
What is the solution to this fellowship problem? The leaders of the Rwandan artists federation tell that it is the reason as to why they came together.

Pearl Thusi Determines To Make It Big in Hollywood.

Pearl Thusi talks making it big in Hollywood.

South African actress Pearl Thusi is doing the country proud in America, but it took a lot of work (and audition tapes) to make it to Hollywood.

Pearl visited the Hello Beautiful headquarters in New York this week to talk about her new role on Quantico, a hit USA series about FBI recruits.

Pearl plays Dayana Mampasi, a Zimbabwean type-A lawyer.

Aside from revealing that she is engaged, Pearl spilled the beans on how touchy the industry can be for black actors.

"Firstly, it is already quite difficult for black actors who are in America, how much more so me coming from another country? So I have got to learn the accent. Lupita has done very well, then you have Charlize Theron… It is great that Hollywood is opening to people of colour, not only within America, but also outside of America, because we all dream. An opportunity like this does not come more than once in a lifetime, so I am grabbing it with both  hands… and I think black people have to hold their own," she said during a Facebook live chat for the online publication.

Pearl also talked about Hollywood bosses who shoot films in South Africa, but are reluctant to place local actors in leading roles.
“In Africa we have a lot of movies being shot there, but we never get a good enough chunk of the pie; we come there to fill in the spaces.  What’s worse is that when it’s a South African story, like the Madiba story… to get a person from another country to come and play a person like Mandela. To carry somebody with that much presence you need to understudy the history.”

She added that it is important for people in Africa to be able to tell their own stories.

"How is Africa and [its] stories going to get out there if we keep using people who are not African to tell the story. But if it has to be, then allow Africans to tell American stories as well which won’t be easy because America is a power house and they won’t let it slide that easy.”

A lot of her fans may look at her and think how easy she has it, but Pearl says she got a lot of rejections before finally getting her big break.
"I have sent so many tapes to this side of the world, a part of me not expecting to hear anything back, but training myself to get to know the accent a bit better…"

American Songstress Visiting Kenya Rebuffs DJ Chris Kirubi With His 1960s Seduction Style.

Lesson number one; don’t try to win over flourishing American songbirds with material things. This is why billionaire Chris Kirubi failed to woo Mya to his private lake.
Thursday night witnessed some sort of contest between Governor Evans Kidero and Chris Kirubi as they tried to outmaneuver each other to win over American singer, Mya.

Well, Mya rejected Chris Kirubi’s offer to join him at his private lake; reason being the tycoon used the wrong seduction technique to woo Mya.
A woman like Mya probably has gotten lots of invitations by dollar billionaires, so Kirubi’s private lake wouldn’t really fascinate her into jumping in a chopper or a vehicle and go visit the lake.

The American singer told Nairobi News she wanted food and not a private lake.
“People kept sending me pictures of their lakes to go there instead, I didn’t know the comedy that was involved. I didn’t get to go for the date because I didn’t get any food.” Mya told Nairobi News in an interview.

While Kirubi’s financial might failed to win over Mya, Nairobi Governor got it right and finally had a date with the eye candy.
Mya, 112 and Ginuwine visited Kidero at City Hall last Friday. Kidero even had time to pose with Mya in a tight embrace!

Kidney deserves the best.

I saw this on Whatsapp and thought I should share.

After we all have received the news of the demise of
the Nigerian actor as a result of kidney disease. I want to
show you how to avert this menace of kidney disease. Very easy
and effective. And don't forget that I copied it. So feel free to share,
copy disseminate. SO HERE ARE THE TOP 6 CAUSES OF
KIDNEY DISEASE:
1. Delaying going to a toilet Keeping your urine in your bladder for
too long is a bad idea. A full bladder can cause bladder damage.
The urine that stays in the bladder multiplies bacteria quickly.
Once the urine refluxes back to the ureter and kidneys, the toxic
substances can result in kidney infections, then urinary tract
infections, and then nephritis, and even uremia. When nature calls
– do it as soon as possible.
2. Eating too much salt,You should eat no more than 5.8 grams of salt daily.

3. Eating too much meat. Too much protein in your diet is harmful
for your kidneys. Protein digestion produces ammonia – a toxin
that is very destructive to your kidneys. More meat equals more
kidney damage.
4. Drinking too much caffeine. Caffeine is a component of many
sodas and soft drinks. It raises your blood pressure and your
kidneys start suffering. So you should cut down the amount of
coke you drink daily.
5. Not drinking water. Our kidneys should be hydrated properly to
perform their functions well. If we don’t drink enough, the toxins
can start accumulating in the blood, as there isn’t enough fluid to
drain them through the kidneys. Drink more than 10 glasses of
water daily. There is an easy way to check if you are drinking
enough water: look at the colour of your urine; the lighter the
colour, the better.
6. Late treatment . Treat all your health problems properly and
have your health checked regularly. Let's help ourselves...God will
protect you and your family from every disease this year! Amen

END OF THE ROAD.

Kunle ignored the smiling hostess as he turned and struggled with the overhead compartment. This was the first time in twenty six flights to and from either Gatwick or Heathrow when he didn’t attempt to buy a diastema, ample bosom or slender leg with his smooth talk and dirty money. He was furious as he tried to hammer his bulgy suitcase into the narrow hand luggage cabin.
“Excuse me, let me help you”. Kunle felt silly accepting help from the smiling lady after ignoring her. She brought down the case, gave it a delicate massage and slipped it back in easily. He mumbled his thanks and made to sit as he inspected his boarding pass.
“What!” Kunle’s temper shot up again.
“I specified window seat, I specified a window seat”, he repeated while making inverted comma signs with his fingers at the hostess. Before she could utter the automatic apology, he pushed the ticket into her hand, eased himself inside and plopped into the window seat. “Sort that out yourself. I’ve never sat in the aisle before and I’m not starting today”. The hostess finally lost her smile, rendered a hiss and stomped up toward the cockpit. Kunle took out his Blackberry Passport powered it and looked up to survey the plane as he waited for the operating system to load. As he updated his status and navigated to BBM, he heard, “The flight will not be full so you can have the window… please sir you have to switch off your mobile devices.” The attendant he’d ignored had returned and
she handed back the boarding pass to him. “That is standard policy sir and you know that, please switch it off now”. Then she waited to watch him comply. Kunle glanced up the walkway and caught a glimpse of Oboma giggling and shaking hands with Mosun Abadu as the curtain separating economy from Business class parted to admit a male attendant who wheeled in a trolley of snacks. “Damn! Why today”, he cursed.
“Excuse me”, asked the hostess.'
“Never mind.” He bent his head and powered down the phone
wondering why Oboma had to take the same flight with him on the one day he was flying economy. The hostess walked away after confirming that he was putting the phone off. Kunle watched the phone’s power down graphic fade off, then he followed happenings in Business Class from behind the inflight  magazine whenever the curtain parted and he could safely peek through. Takeoff announced, the attendants secured the curtain and went down to the tail. Kunle finally sat up and arched his back. He slapped down the magazine and pondered his recent pitiable situation.
Per Capita Income in Nigeria was at an all-time low so  travelling to accept a second Master’s Degree at Imperial, getting
an offer from NNPC just the other week and logging your twenty seventh UK flight wasn’t the worst situation. But how the high had
fallen! “How did I even end up in Economy? How did this even happen?” He sighed and turned to scan the rest of the plane. There were two chattering Igbo women at the back, a caftanned man with a wild beard davening just across the aisle from him and businessmen type with their face in books - the usual motley mix of London bound commuters were spread through the plane.
Kunle used to be the final borlor but now just a year after President Pombori got sworn in, he had sadly downgraded to an ordinary ajebutter. On his twenty-six earlier trips, he’d flown economy only on the first two. That was before his dad, Mr. Sampson Ajayi was appointed the Director General of the Nigeria Electricity Distribution Company, NERC by the former president, Godspower Kingsley. After that, it had been Business Class all through interspersed with First Class whenever he travelled with dad. It wasn’t just the flight class, the upgrade cut through all parts of his advantaged life. He drove a Mercedes in Abuja, a Range Rover in Lagos and could choose between the Avensis or Camry whenever they travelled to their hometown of Ado-Ekiti for Christmas. He had the money to buy the bar anytime he patronized the clubs and never had to work a single day in England throughout the time he’d spent there earning his two degrees.
Now here he was in Economy hiding from his crush, Oboma Douglas the pretty daughter of the Port Harcourt oil billionaire, Nelson Douglas. He’d been on her case for two years straight and she was only starting to warm to his advances so he could not be caught dead flying Economy for any reason – not at this point when he believed he could finally score at the post-graduation party. He sighed, picked up the in-flight magazine again and absently turned the pages.
This drought had started after Pompori ousted Godspower in the general elections and launched his anti-corruption war. The campaign had claimed the careers, dignity and freedom of a large chunk of principal officials of the Godspower Kingsley government. The previously hibernating Financial Crimes Commission had risen from its slumber and started investigating everyone. Most of the ministers, parastatal chairs and governors who served in the previous regime were now serving their different sentences somewhere quiet.
It was a widespread clean-up that only a handful escaped from. Sampson Ajayi was one of those lucky few. The other survivors were the heads of those departments which Pompori needed to work so he could establish that his administration was turning things around. They kept their hide because of this, but their freedom came at a huge cost. Pompori had called the ‘few saved’ to a meeting where he explained to them the conditions for maintaining their offices and freedom. They had to return ninety percent of the funds embezzled in their ministries as the investigations had discovered, then sign undertakings to raise the outputs of their strategic MDAs. Electricity supply had to markedly improve nationwide, refineries had to start actually producing fuel and Boko Haram had to be pushed back so that the pro-Pompori Twitter warriors could harp on those as early evidence of Pompori’s messianic status.
Mr. Ajayi called his own meeting when he got back home that night. His wife, bratty daughters and Kunle cast worried glances at each other as oga looked down and fidgeted. He’d informed them of the development and told them that the family would be employing austerity measures to survive the impending famine. That speech indirectly translated, amongst other things, to Kunle’s demeaning and uncomfortable Economy class trip. They were now airborne so Kunle unbuckled his seatbelt and gazed out the window at the feathery tufts of cloud. He tried to clear the anger from his mind.
“Excuse me sir, food will be served in an hour. In the meantime, will you have juice or a cocktail?”
The hostess was back - along with her smile. Kunle managed to smile back this time.
“What liquor do you have?”
“There’s vodka, Bacardi, Black Label, Hennessey and – “.
“Give me the Hennessy and please no ice, I’ll have it straight”, he interjected. She penciled down his order, flashed another smile and turned to the next seat. ‘Hmmm… I might just line you up’ Kunle thought, then promptly dropped the idea. He would be balling on a budget on this trip although he had one hundred thousand pounds in his hand luggage. Popsy had given it to him. An Igbo officer had passed him at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. He did not know much more except that a certain Claude Davis would receive the package from him once he cleared customs. He soon got drowsy and the hostess was the last thought on his mind as he dozed off.

* * * * * * * * *
Passengers in economy had to wait for almost thirty minutes to disembark after touching down at London. Kunle was thankful for this because at least Oboma would be through immigrations by the time he got into the terminal. He approached the immigrations desk and got cleared without much hassle but as he made to leave, two unsmiling men walked up beside him.
“Are you Mr. Ajayi?” the short one asked.
“Yes. Any problem?" He returned, wiping his brow even though he wasn’t sweating.
The taller man said, “I’m Inspector Coleman and this is Detective Gatlin, my colleague from Scotland yard. If you’ll just come with us please”.
“On what charge? I couldn’t have committed any crime. I just came into the country with legal papers.”
The policemen exchanged  glances and Detective Gatlin pointed toward a closed door. “We have reliable information that you are laundering Nigerian funds into the UK on this trip. Please cooperate and come with us." Kunle’s head immediately felt light as he remembered the cash in his luggage. He knew he would neither be attending the graduation events nor seeing Oboma again for a long time.

10 UPSIDES OF BEING A SINGLE GUY.

Mkparu Obinna has this to say about single guys. Happy reading;
1. YOU HAVE MORE CASH
You won’t believe how much extra cash you’ll have when you’ve got no one to spend it on but yourself. Just don’t blow it all on drinks and what not. It’s a good time to save up and make some investments.

2. NOT LIVING UP TO ANYONE’S EXPECTATIONS
We all project what we want out of a mate onto the person we’re with to some degree. But when you ain’t got nobody, you ain’t got nobody to impress… or disappoint.

3. YOU’LL PROBABLY BE IN BETTER SHAPE
Letting yourself go a little when you’ve got somebody is pretty natural, but when you’re on the market, you want to look your best. And hey, you have a lot more time to spend at the gym now.

4. FILM TIME
Watching movies as a couple can be great if it’s something you both want to see and you’re both enjoying it. But it can kind of suck when you have to suffer through a trite romantic comedy or endure endless sighs of discontent during that Horror flick you picked out. Watch whatever you want, whenever you want, fast-forward to the nudity, turn it off when it gets boring. The remote is yours and yours alone.

5. YOU CAN REMOVE YOUR PHONE PASSWORD
Leaving your phone unattended can be very dangerous when you’re with someone. Recent calls are open to scrutiny and texts are waiting to be misinterpreted. But now, no one gives a shit about who you communicate with or how you do it.

6. THE ONLY PERSON WHO CONTROLS YOUR MOOD IS YOU
Ever have a fantastic day, then come home and find your girlfriend in tears on the couch? As part of a couple, it’s your job to be there for her, and you’re more than willing to do it… but it can be a real buzz kill.

7. FEWER DATES TO REMEMBER
No more worrying about forgetting all those damn anniversaries (the day you met, your first date, your first kiss, the first time you slept together, etc.). Clear your calendar, buddy.

8. MORE TIME FOR YOUR BUDDIES
The guys you used to see twice a month, you now see them twice a week.hang out and drink in the best lounge of your choice.

9. YOU’RE ALLOWED TO YORUBA DEMON IT
Newly single people are often intimidated to go out and get laid, even though it’s clearly one of the best ways to get over someone. Well, there are hundreds of people out there in the same boat you’re in, and many of them want the same thing you do. You only have to answer to your own morality, now. Better start carrying condoms again.
10. NO EXPLANATIONS, NO EXCUSES
Didn’t get home till 4 in the morning? If there’s no one waiting for you at home, there’s no risk of coming home to find all your shit out on the front porch.

Well guys, do you agree with him?

Israel Houghton: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know.

Adrienne Bailon‘s relationship to Isreal Houghton was made public when the two singers were spotted in Tulum, Mexico. In February, Houghton, 44, announced that he is  divorcing his wife of over 20 years.
Although they have been separated for quite a while, it’s being questioned as to whether Bailon was the reason. Houghton admitted that he had been unfaithful five years ago.
A worship leader at Joel Olsteen‘s church in Houston, Texas, Houghton — first name inspired by the Bible — has built himself a solid reputation as a Christian musician. He also gets credited as the frontman of Israel & New Breed.
Here’s what you need to know about Houghton:

1. Houghton Is a Grammy Award-Winning Christian Musician

Israel Houghton — pictured above — is a well-known Christian musician that also gets credited as the frontman of Israel & New Breed. (Getty)
Houghton’s music is notorious for its cross-cultural style of Christian music that blends together jazz, gospel, rock and reggae elements. He was also the producer on Michael Gungor‘s album, titled “Bigger Than My Imagination.”
During the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards, Houghton (Israel & New Breed) collaborated withAlicia Keyes for George Michael‘s “Freedom ’90.” He also appeared with BeBe Winans and Aretha Franklin at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards. During his appearance, Houghton was part of a segment paying homage to Gospel music.
He dished to CBN about the message he hoped to convey through his faith and music.
My goal is not just to get to heaven, but to truly build something lasting. So the songs I write, the people whose lives I touch, I want it to be a lasting thing.

2. There Was Speculation That Bailon Was Responsible for His Divorce

Israel Houghton (R) and his now ex-wife Meleasa Houghton (L) at The 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards in Los Angeles. (Getty)
Although Houghton has been separated from wife Meleasa for quite some time, speculation continues as to whether he cheated on her — prior to their split — with Bailon.
On February 23, Houghton came clean on his Facebook page about his infidelity, stating that he “failed and sinned in my marriage.” Click here for the full confession, which has since been removed from the social media site.
Houghton and Meleasa met at Houghton’s ministry in Pittsburgh and tied the knot after four months together. The two penned songs, became parents and established a strong ministry together. Houghton — who said that he “repented” for his actions — said the two are on friendly terms, according to the above-mentioned Facebook post. They were married for over 20 years.
After Bailon and Tamar Braxton addressed Chris Brown and Karrueche Tran’s relationship onThe Real on November 3, 2014, Brown clapped back at her on Instagram that same day, accusing Bailon of fooling around “wit married men.”
However, on his Facebook page, Houghton said that his new girlfriend had nothing to do with his past indiscretions.
My marriage had been over for quite some time before going public with my divorce announcement. It seems to be simple math that I had not even met Adrienne during the time my marriage was falling apart. Adrienne is a woman of integrity & character… Most of all she is a true friend, and she should not be blamed for my past indiscretions.

3. Houghton Has Three Children

Houghton has three children from ex-wife Meleasa; Mariah (oldest child), Israel II (middle child) and Milan Lily (youngest child).
In an undated interview, Houghton spoke to CBN about doing great things for not only his own children but also the children of the church.
I’m more interested in building a legacy and a dynasty with my children and with spiritual sons and daughters that God gives me opportunity to lead and to mentor and to inspire.
In regards to his own kids, Houghton told Beliefnet that his spiritual foundation started at home.
“I don’t leave home to go help other people live if I’m not modeling that in our home setting.”

4. Houghton Went Public With His Romance to Bailon On a Mexican Getaway

On March 22, an US Weekly source confirmed that Houghton and Bailon were officially an item. The new couple were shown on vacation in Tulum, Mexico at Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa. The two kicked back on the beach, spent time at a spa and indulged in tequila, reported the site.
While Bailon and Houghton were donning similar bands on their ring fingers, the site’s source reported that it was merely “a coincidence.”
[They] just have the same rings from Cartier that they bought separately. They normally hang out in group circles but over spring break decided to take a trip alone together for the first time.
Interesting enough, Houghton was an executive producer on Bailon’s 2013 movie I’m in Love With a Church Girl. On Tuesday, he explained on his Facebook pagehow he got romantically involved with Bailon.

I met Adrienne Bailon a bit over 2 years ago, we worked together & became friends. Our circles connected & we remained good friends. From a friendship, as two single adults we have very recently begun to explore a dating relationship.
Daily Mail reported that Houghton and Bailon were also “spotted kissing.”

5. Houghton Had Congratulated Bailon On Her Now-Broken Engagement
