Dallas police have held one suspect in custody, and are still searching for others in the shootings of 11 officers ... 4 of whom were killed during a protest.
It is believed that the attackers laid an ambush and shot from an elevated position in the middle of a protest against the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile . Gunshots echoed through downtown Dallas for several minutes during the fierce battle.
Police has released a photo of a man seen walking through the protest dressed in a camouflage shirt armed with a rifle. He was initially called a person of interest by the Police, however he later turned himself in, and police now say he is not believed to be involved because Texas is an open carry state.
Dallas PD is still searching for suspects and fear an explosive device was left somewhere in the area. They say one suspicious package was found and will be detonated by the bomb squad.
