FG extends Eid El Fitri Public Holiday to Thursday.

THE Federal Government has extended the Public Holiday to mark Eid-El-Fitri Sallah celebration from Wednesday to Thursday 7th July.
This followed the directive by the President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, to the effect that the Ramadan fast had to continue on Wednesday, as a result of the non-sighting of the moon.
Government had earlier declared Tuesday and Wednesday as public holiday to mark the Sallah celebration.
Minister of Interior, Lieutenant Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau (Retd) made the made the announcement on behalf of the Federal Government on Tuesday in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Mr Bassey Akpanyung in Abuja.
He urged Nigerians to use this period of sober reflections to ensure harmony, unity and peaceful co-existence, while giving full support to the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in his sustained effort to pursue socio-economic and political growth of the nation.
He also wished Nigerians a peaceful celebration.
