Today, at the Korean Cultural Centre, Abuja, Echezonachuwu Nduka won the Korea-Nigeria poetry feast with his poem, ‘LISTEN’.
The Korea-Nigeria Poetry Feast is a one-day commemorative event jointly organised by Abuja-based Arojah Concepts and the Korean Cultural Centre of the Embassy of the Republic of South Korea at the Korean Cultural Centre.
According to Nduka – who is presently studying at Kingston University, London, this award is a huge landmark on his journey as a young writer.
“This, for me, is a huge landmark on my journey as a young writer and creative striving to better my art. I am grateful to the organizers and participants of the poetry feast.”
In a gallant show of honour, he went on to write the following on his Facebook wall:
“With all sense of honour, I must admit that all shortlisted poets and all poets who believed in their works enough to send them in for this year’s competition are winners.”
This year’s award had over 500 entries from young poets; a whooping leap from last year’s 177 entries.
What a way to celebrate World Poetry Day! Congratulations Echezonachukwu Nduka.
Happy World Poetry Day all!
