Mos Def banned from South Africa for trying to use a" word passport" after visa expired.

Hip hop star Mos Def has been arrested in South Africa for using an unrecognized 'world passport'.

The rapper and actor, who now goes by the name Yasiin Bey, was detained at Cape Town International Airport for violating immigration laws, a government spokesman said.

When asked to present his travel documents when trying to leave South Africa, Mos Def handed over a world passport instead of a genuine one, officials said.

The  Love & Money singer, who was born Dante Smith, now has 14 days to leave the country.

South African Department of Home Affairs spokesman Mayihlome Tshwete said Mos Def, 42, entered the country in 2013 on an American visa, but overstayed his visitors' permit, which expired in 2014.

He had tried to leave using a world passport - a document that is not accepted in most countries but whose owners claim gives them the right to enter or leave any country as stipulated by the United Nations.

Explaining the court's decision, Mr Tshwete wrote on Twitter: 'We are all fans guys... but the law is the law.' 

He continued: 'With regards to Mr Smith (Mos Def), SAPS (South African Police Service) has charged him with usage of fraudulent travel documents. The matter is currently before the courts. 

'Mr Smith has been living in SA with his family without the necessary permits, he was detained upon departure for using illegal travel docs.

'Mr Smith came into SA with a legitimate US passport but since overstayed his visitors permit. Mr Smith was departing SA using a "World Passport", SA does not recognise a "World Passport".

'The Department Of Home Affairs has given Mr Smith and his family 14 days to leave the republic.'

Mos Def, whose tracks also include Mathematics and Ms. Fat Booty, has reportedly lived in Cape Town since May 2013.

Aside from his music, he also starred in films such as The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, the 2003 remake of The Italian Job and Life of Crime. He also appeared in television shows Dexter and House.

He was nominated for a Golden Globe and an Emmy in 2004 for his performance as surgeon Vivien Thomas in Something the Lord Made.

Barbara has this to say about the shoot;

“So 5 supremely creative people got together to do ” No Air” an ad hoc underwater fashion shoot on a whim and without a budget over a weekend. These are the results.

“What happens when dreams are stifled and freedom inhibited? There is stagnation, there is breathlessness, there is NO AIR. You gasp for air, you struggle for release but there is no way you can get these without fighting your way out. There are communities in and outside Nigeria who struggle with this phenomenon in more ways than one.

That is the story behind this project. We hope to get the attention of interested individuals and organisations in the full scale of this project.

It took us 24 hours to execute this test shoot, but we did it and it was done – out of passion, out of nothing, out of a desire and that’s all it took.“

Eva Longoria reveals she wants tacos and mariachi band at her wedding.

She's not set a date yet but Eva Longoria already knows she wants a 'big fat Mexican wedding'.

The actress appeared on Watch What Happens Live along with Ryan Seacrest on Wednesday and dished on her upcoming nuptials to fiancé José Antonio Bastón.

During a quickfire round of questions, Eva, 40, revealed that the event will definitely have a mariachi band and it must have tacos.

Cohen tried to get the scoop on Eva's wedding gown, saying: 'It's been reported that your buddy Victoria Beckham will be designing your gown...'

Eva responded 'We haven't even talked about a gown' before swiftly changing the subject adding, 'I wanna elope'

The Desperate Housewives star was asked whether E! producer Seacrest, 41, will be attending her nuptials and she giggled 'Seacrest is invited, Seacrest emceed my other wedding!'

 

This will be the Texan beauty's third time down the aisle following marriages to General Hospital star Tyler Christopher and French basketball pro Tony Parker. 

 

Out of all of her Housewives cast, the actress said she would probably pick Felicity Huffman if she could only pick one to come to the wedding.

It seemed like it was back to business as usual for the tight-knit family after they spent the Christmas period in Paris and Tokyo together.

In the animated Disney flick, Shakira voices a pop star called Gazelle as well as singing Try Everything - a track penned by Sia and Stargate.

The 3D movie follows the story of Officer Judy Hopps - voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin - a rabbit who is a member of the Zootopia Police Department.

Also featuring Octavia Spencer, Idris Elba, and J.K. Simmons, the family film hits US theaters on March 4 and UK theaters on March 25.

With Coffee-Spoons …

…Eliot T.S taught me…

I too have measured out
my life with coffee-spoons,

dividing and cutting out rations

for evenings

mornings

and afternoons.

I know how many bails can empty the sea of
 earth’s tears.

I know how many

grubs of smoothly powdered pride

fused in hot liquid envy,

made-up Lucifer’s cup of doom.


I know how many

ladles of gritted lust

passed under the heat of passed under the heat of steaming passion,

excited the unstable Eve to that forbidden
 tree;

where of the serpentine’s brewed espresso,
 death’s sweet crema she tasted free.

  I know how many

scoops of plain humility

dissolved in the brisk fluid of compassion,

made possible the salvation of humanity,

that sacrifice at Golgotha, the steep price paid
 for man’s redemption.

I know how many bails can empty the sea of
 earth’s tears.

O! With coffee-spoons

I also have measured cautiously,

I also have measured cautiously,

how many dippers of the milky dust of
 glittering hope…

is required to revive and irradiate the dead
dreams and black aspirations

 of my despondent Africa.


I meticulously calculated

how many grams of granulated tolerance

would be sufficient to produce the tea of
 peace,

In a quantity large enough to fill the cup

of all those troubled souls thriving in the war-
torn east.


I have carefully estimated

how many cubes of crystallized brotherly love

needs be added to sweeten the bitter tea of
 this hate flavored world.


I know how many bails can empty the sea of
 earth’s tears.



I have religiously counted

How many mustard seeds of faith

is essential to move mountains,

I know how much iota of doubt

can make Thomas believe.


Yea! With coffee-spoons

I have stirred the boat of fate,

paddling steadfastly upon life’s fiery
 fountains,

rowing relentlessly down the lake of
 drudgery:

Lo! I have turned her wheels towards the
making of a new history.
