These days, the only celebrities who promise to save themselves for marriage are Disney starlets conforming to the Mouse House's pristine image, but who eventually break free of their good girl role and rebel with sexed-up music videos and movie roles, just like Britney Spears, Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus.
Which is why it was all the more headline-worthy when fans found out that Ciara, 29, was abstaining from sex with her current boyfriend, 27-year-old Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.
But just because the two have promised to keep sex off the table until there are rings on their fingers that doesn't mean they're not tempted to get more intimate, and in a recent interview with Cosmopolitan.com, Ciara even admitted that it hasn't been easy keeping her hands to herself.
It was Russell who first broke the news, telling congregants at The Rock Church in July of last year that God had told him to keep the then-three-month-old relationship sex-free.
'God spoke to me and said, "I need you to lead her,"' he said. 'And I asked her, "What would you do if we took all that extra stuff off the table? And just did it Jesus’ way?"'
But for any two people — especially two very good-looking people — there is bound to be temptation, and Ciara admitted that it has been tough for both of them to stick to their plan.
'We're hanging in there. I'm not gonna lie. I'm human, so it is not easy,' she admitted. 'Especially when I look at him and I think he is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen — that I've ever laid my eyes on, to be honest.
'I'm like, Look the other way! Look the other way!
Though she added that they still hug and enjoy a 'nice good kiss', the lovebirds seem to be avoiding any racier contact so they don't cross the point of no return.
'You have to be careful not to go too far so you don't end up in the place you're trying to avoid being in,' she said. 'Strong, strong, strong, strong! Just the strongest resistance to temptation.'
Still, she said, it's been rewarding to take the physical stuff out of the equation, since the couple has been able to really focus on getting to know each other emotionally over the past ten months.
'He's such an awesome guy, and the cool thing is that every day, we're growing with each other,' she said. 'We get to have really healthy conversations and focus on each other as people. That is very important to me and him.
'It's very valuable. We're just enjoying ourselves and going one day at a time and praying and staying positive.'
Avoiding getting frisky hasn't exactly been a walk in the park for Russell, either.
'I ain’t gonna lie to y’all, now. I need y’all to pray for us,' he said last year. 'Because I know y’all have seen her on the screen now. If there’s a 10, she’s a 15. Pray for me, keep my mind clear, keep my heart clear.'
Ciara agreed, telling Access Hollywood Live: 'I think both of us look at each other and we're like — whew. But we take it one day at a time.'
But if rose-petal bubble baths and champagne-fueled sex sessions are off the table, that also means the couple will have to get creative for Valentine's Day this weekend.
'I do [have plans], but I can't talk about those plans,' Ciara told E! News.
When pressed on whether her guy might finally pop the question — getting them one step closer to consummating the thing — the singer just played coy.
'You have to ask the guy that,' she said, adding: 'Let me tell you, no pressure. One day at a time.
